A stalled health platform began serving patients in four months
A connected patient and clinician service moved from an inherited mid-build state to live use, with compliance evidence delivered alongside the platform.
Project outcome
The platform began serving patients in four months, followed by the remaining compliance work inside the next two months.

Patients cannot benefit from a health platform that is stuck in development.
This project recovered an inherited digital health platform and brought the connected patient and clinician service into live use. The work joined product recovery, reporting, engagement, clinical safety and security evidence so the service could move forward as one system.
Project brief
The platform had stalled mid-build and carried technical debt across the parts that patients and clinicians needed to use together. A patient app alone would not be enough. The service also needed a clinician portal, reporting, care-planning workflows, engagement mechanics and evidence for NHS and healthcare review.
The first working platform began serving patients in four months. The remaining compliance work was completed inside the following two months. The live service continues across more than five NHS care systems and serves thousands of patients and clinicians.
What we delivered
- The platform backend and connected service architecture.
- A patient mobile app and clinician portal.
- AI-assisted report generation with a clear professional review step.
- Care-planning workflows for patients, carers and families.
- Gamification and rewards with voucher integration.
- Cyber Essentials and NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit work.
- DCB 0129 and DCB 0160 clinical safety cases.
- ISO 27001 and HIPAA requirements in the delivery context.
- A DPIA and client security questionnaires.
- An offline-available hospital passport pattern for important patient baselines.

What changed
Patients, carers and family members can record short updates rather than producing a long written account before the care team can see what happened. Before a visit, a clinician can generate a one-click AI-assisted summary and review trends in seconds instead of spending at least thirty minutes reconstructing the previous week.
The report-generation component addressed a separate bottleneck. A clinical write-up that took about two hours could be prepared as a structured draft in about fifteen minutes for more than fifty clinicians. The clinician still reviews and signs the final report.
The engagement result is measured separately. 30-day retention reached eleven times the digital health industry average of 3 to 4 percent. That result belongs to the connected patient journey and should not be presented as the effect of one feature alone.

Engineering detail
The patient and clinician experiences were developed as one service. The interaction model was kept usable across patient groups, including people with learning disabilities. The hospital passport keeps important normal and abnormal baseline information available offline, giving a doctor a useful starting point when communication or connectivity is difficult.
Security and clinical safety were delivered alongside the product. Cyber Essentials provides a baseline security control. The NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit, or NHS DSPT, provides an evidence framework for handling data in NHS settings. DCB 0129 and DCB 0160 are the clinical safety standards used to identify and control risks in healthcare software.
Availability matters because an hour of downtime can delay a consultation or rescue. The 99.99% figure is our operating standard across the platforms we build and run, not a project-specific outcome.

The project in one sentence
A stalled patient-facing platform became a live, connected service with clinical time returned and the evidence needed for regulated use built into delivery.
